How Tap&Reuse works
A complete reuse infrastructure that sits alongside your existing operations. RFID-tracked containers, contactless checkout, automated returns and a live operator dashboard. No app for customers, no changes to your POS.
Four components. One closed loop.
Tap&Reuse is a full-stack reuse system: hardware, software, containers and logistics. Everything your locations need to replace single-use packaging, delivered and managed by us.
RFID containers
Every cup and container has an embedded RFID tag. Each one is uniquely identified and tracked from borrow to return to wash and back into circulation. Containers are designed for a minimum of 200 reuse cycles.
The MMC (Mini Magic Counter)
Our all-in-one counter unit combines an RFID reader pad, compute unit, display and payment terminal in a compact device. When a container is placed on the pad, the system reads the tag and activates the payment terminal. The entire borrow interaction takes under three seconds.
Contactless checkout
Customers tap any contactless payment card, Apple Pay or Google Pay to link the container to their card. No app download, no account creation, no deposit. If the container is not returned within the return window (typically 7 days), a non-return fee of £3/€3 is charged automatically. The fee is customizable depending on the product.
Return points
Self-service return bins or smart bins depending on the use case. When a container is returned, the system logs it automatically and releases the customer’s card. Returns can happen at different locations within the same partner network, for example across buildings on a university campus.
Under three seconds at the counter.
Place
Staff or customer places a reusable container on the MMC. The system identifies the container by its unique RFID tag and activates the payment terminal.
Tap
The customer taps their payment card, phone or watch on the terminal. This links the container to their payment method. No app, no sign-up, no deposit changes hands.
Return
The customer drops the container into any return point within the partner network. The system reads the tag, matches it to the borrower, and releases their card.
Repeat
Containers are collected, commercially washed by the venue or a third-party provider, inspected and restocked. Each wash cycle is logged. The container goes back into circulation.
Real-time data for every location.
Your operations and sustainability teams get a live dashboard showing exactly what is happening across your reuse programme. Role-based access means site managers, operations leads and executive teams each see what they need.
Works alongside your existing setup.
Tap&Reuse does not replace your point of sale. It runs as a standalone system at the counter. No software integration, no IT project, no staff retraining.
